In
April after marking its 20th anniversary with the accreditation of the first
six-star restrooms, the RAS, Restroom Association (Singapore),
continued its commemoration with the launch of its Happy Toilets @
Preschools Booklet and Handbook in August. With former RAS President Ms Tan
Puay Hoon stepping down in August, I wish to extend my deepest appreciation
to her for selflessly helming the RAS for the past ten years. I strongly
believe that her exemplary contributions will remain an inspiration to
everyone.

RAS
expresses appreciation to its former President
In 2009, Ms Tan Puay
Hoon, who was the RAS Honorary President since 2007, received the EcoFriend Award organised by the
National Environment Agency (NEA), for her contributions towards shaping
Singapore as a clean and green environment.

RAS
partners with Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) under the
Innovation Guidance Projects (IGP)
For the first time as a community partner with the ECDA
under the IGP, RAS conducted training for preschool teachers to embark on
hygiene projects on 18th July. A total of 10 preschools participated in
this pilot run of training. RAS aims to target 15 preschools next year.

LOO (Let’s Observe
Ourselves) Awards Ceremony

The
LOO Awards Ceremony will be
held on 19 November, at the Lifelong Learning Institute. Invited
Guest-of-Honour, Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of
State for Health and the Environment and Water Resources, will be
presenting the awards. The awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with
a Better Public Toilet Design & Maintenance Seminar to share about the
updates to the latest Fourth Edition of the Guide to Better Public Toilet
Design and Maintenance.
